Jay Says Relax

Today I am struck by the ability of people to rush from one thing to the next without resting in between. This may be seen as efficient and "Multi-Taskers" never seem to sit still.

The ability to relax and enjoy the moment is something that all people in our North American culture need to take to heart. Why do we rush? - so we can "Hurry up and enjoy life" on the weekends?

Let me tell you a secret: There are 7 days in a week and you need to relax in order to enjoy them all!

Many of my clients rush for 5 days then complain that the weekend is so short...The fact is that when the weekend hits they don't know how to relax so they barrel through it at 100 MPH and never stop to relax.

Here is what I tell my clients about relaxation:
You Don't need to be on a private beach in Bora Bora - but it helps.
Close your eyes and imagine (for the duration of 5 deep breaths) that you are sitting on a pristine beach in Bora Bora with a cold drink in your hand.

After your 5 breaths open your eyes and you will feel invigorated.

Repeat as needed.

Remember you still have responsibilities and need to get things done. Getting things done is always easier after a vacation - even if it is only a half minute long.

Till Next Time!

First Steps - finding your footing

Before you run you need to find your balance, then you need to tilt your leanings in the direction of your goals.

Finding out what makes us tick can be an easy process, here are three 'oldie - but - a - goodie' ways to find what you value most:
1. If money were no object what would you do and why?
2. At what time in your life were you the most content - what were you doing and how did it make you feel?
3. If you could give only one piece of advice to everyone in the world what would it be?

Try all of these exercises and write down your answers - it is a very powerful thing to be able to come back later and see how many of these things you will be able to accomplish in a very short time.

Till next time!

Blogging About Clients....I Don't

Just as a note, three of my current clients were quite curious that I had started blogging about being a life coach and they wanted to know if I was posting about them.

I assured them and my other clients that I would never break a trust of confidence just to get some hits on my blog.

The blog is slowing going to turn into a place where I can help facilitate change to more people than just the few I am able to see each day.

The specifics you share in confidence never leave the coffee shop.

Scouts honor, every time.

Cheers.

Dear prospective clients,

As your life coach there is one thing that I need you to keep in mind this week - balance.

Stay balanced and you will have more focus, more energy and you will be more relaxed.

Hanging up a Shingle

Today marks the first day of my new career as a life coach!

I am now accepting clients who are looking to challenge themselves, break out of old routines, or just plain want to make a change but can't do it on their own.

My specialty is helping people challenge their norms and get out of their comfort zones.

If you or someone you know of is looking to make a shift in their thinking drop me an email!

Cheers,

Jay Martens
